When I was younger, my parents put me in dance class and I stuck with it until I was in high school. After high school and during college I exercised here and there but it wasn’t a part of my daily life. By the time I graduated college, I was 25lbs heavier then I wanted to be.
I started to work out at the gym doing a mixture of cardio, weights, and eating a lot healthier then I was. Through hard work and determination I lost the 25 lbs. During my mid to late 20’s, I tried to keep exercise in my daily life. I had some good months and some really bad months. I basically would go up and down in weight by 5 to 10 lbs.
As I got into my early 30’s I again became determined to keep exercise in my daily life and was great for about a year and then all of a sudden I lost my motivation. It was more enticing to come home from work and sit on my couch and watch tv. Once you get into the routine of not working out for a day or two or a week or two, it just gets easier and easier to remain lazy. I was lazy and didn’t step foot in the gym for over a year.
By age 33 I found a girlfriend who had been going to the gym regularly and I began to work out with her. It is definitely easier to work out when you have someone there pushing you. You can’t really make excuses in your head of why you should stay home from the gym because now you have a responsibility to someone else.
As Kristie and I got more involved with taking classes at the gym, we noticed a sign one day that there was going to be a boot camp type class. We thought we needed to step our game up and this was the perfect opportunity. Little did I know at the time that the boot camp class I was about to take would lead me to my current trainer, Matt Rodriguez.
Boot camp was definitely different from a lot of the stuff I was used to doing at the gym. I liked it so much that when the trial month of boot camp was over, I began training with Matt. Matt not only is an extremely out going and personable individual but he really knows what he is talking about as well. He does research on the most up to date techniques as well as staying properly certified. He is always looking for new ways to switch things up and keep you motivated and challenged and take things to the next level.
I have seen a total transformation in my strength and endurance since I have been working out with Matt for the last year. I have to say he kicks my butt and as much as I hate it, I like it just as much. There are so many times that I am tired and want to give up but Matt is right there to push me and keep me going.
You can tell that Matt truly loves what he does. He gets joy out of helping people out and I am truly thankful for all the help he has given me.

I am 67 years old, my name is Anne and I joined Anytime Fitness in March 2010 and then started training with Matt Rodriquez a Certified Personal Trainer.
Matt has been working with me one day a week showing me how to use weights along with weight resistance training that will also help me with my osteoporosis problem, I am also doing pushups, planks, lunges and situps. I now have muscles and definition in my arms and shoulders and definitely feel stronger. The training has also helped improve my breathing. It is really nice when you start seeing the results of working out and that will make you want to keep going.
Matt is very patient and will explain the purpose of the exercise and how it will work for you. You never know what Matt will have planned for you each week but it will definitely be challenging and it will be fun.

When I first signed up for personal training with Matt, I was actually a little nervous. Having never done this before I didn't know what to expect and thought he might be judgmental of my abilities or the shape I was in. I was very pleasantly surprised, Matt has done nothing but encourage me every step of the way. He pushes me harder than I would ever push myself and changes things constantly so it is not the boring drudgery of working out. I never thought I'd be one to look forward to working out but Matt makes it enjoyable and I always feel good afterwards, and as the inches melt away it motivates me even more.

As a bride-to-be I decided I needed to get in shape to look my best on my big day. Lucky for me, I got to work with Matt for 3 months before my wedding. Matt was very motivating and was as excited about seeing results as I was. Training with Matt was a lot of hard work but also a lot of fun. He always pushed when pushing was needed but also knew when I had had enough. Every session was different and this made things a lot more interesting than just working out on my own. After my wedding I moved to California and have since worked with 2 other trainers and I can honestly say that neither of them measures up to the dedication and results I saw with Matt.

I began training with Matt in the beginning of July, 2008. Before joining Bally’s, I had never worked with a personal trainer so I was somewhat apprehensive to the idea. For my initial training, Matt was very welcoming and friendly. Since then, I have trained with Matt once a week.
Matt also began a small group resistance training and kickboxing class that I was fortunate to join. In the class, Matt shows his wealth of knowledge in nutrition, the anatomy and physiology of the body, and martial arts, which he actively participates in on his own time.
During the time that I have known Matt, I have been impressed by his level of enthusiasm. Matt is very dedicated to both the training and teaching aspects of the work he does. Not only does he help members in training sessions but feels it is very imperative to impress upon them how to properly manage and maximize their workouts in their own personal time. Finally, Matt emphasizes the importance of daily nutrition to help build a healthier lifestyle for all of his clients.
